The Prisoner is one of those cult sci-fi British shows, like Doctor Who that managed to be completely ridiculous, completely addictive, and clearly a lot more socially aware in an original way than most thing seen on television today. I’m a fan of British TV and a fan of original Prisoner series. I couldn’t really imagine being sucked into a show that essentially reset itself every episode, but it was so unique and the fact that the main character and an unseen group of assholes were the only ones who either were aware or wanted to admit awareness, to the fact that people and things were often replaced in the night and that shit was getting a liiiitle too trippy in this experiment with utopia (see Wikipedia entry for dystopia for accurate definition). But the show payed off. And now –with the remake– we get Sir Ian McKellan (Magneto/Gandalf himself) and Jim Caviezel (who I’m always iffy about because Mel Gibson holds him in high esteem) and a show that’s updated and different enough to possibly do a good job of making the show attractive to past fans and new. I would suggest they throw Joss Whedon on this to make sure its good, but he already makes the same show. It’s called Dollhouse. Watch it.
